There is a lot of talk about bundling your insurance, but is “bundling” truly a benefit?? Many insurance commercials are selling the advantages of combining all of your insurance policies with one company and the discounts that you will receive for doing this, but consider this…
People that have multiple lines with an insurance carrier are less likely to move their business because it is a lot more difficult procedure to move several insurance policies, rather than one. Plus, the customer realizes that if they tried to move one line of business, they may lose the “multiple policy discount”. Companies call this retention. The more policies that you “bundle”, the less likely you are to leave. Therefore, if a company raises their rates on home insurance, you are less likely to shop around because you would, also, have to move your auto insurance….and maybe your umbrella policy…maybe even your boat insurance.
This is why an independent insurance agent is always the best option. We represent a lot of these companies that offer “bundles”, but we will, also, shop around all of your insurance policies. It may be great, that Company A will give you a 10% disount on your auto, but if they are 20% higher than other auto markets, who cares!
If you feel like you are stuck in a bundle, call us. We will show you how easy it is to move multiple lines to different carriers. We have bundles, too, but we aren’t going to bundle you if it’s not in your best interest.
